Building A Structure? Types Of Insulated Panel Structures And Their Benefits

Construction & Contractors Blog

If you are building a structure, there are many things to consider. One of these things is how you can save energy. One way you can do this is to use insulated panels.  These panels are used when constructing flooring, ceilings, and walls. Below are some different types of these panels you can choose from, as well as the many benefits of doing this.

Types of Insulated Panel Structures

When it comes to these panels, there are different types you can choose from including:

Polyurethane Panels

Polyurethane insulated panels are popular as they are fire and water resistant and they have a high R-value. R-value is a measure of the amount of insulation is used in walls, ceilings, windows, and more. The higher the R-value is the more insulation there is. R-values can be up to 14 and as low as 4.

Polystyrene Panels

Polystyrene insulated panels are also often used as they are very durable and also creates a very secure bond to the material the panels are put upon, such as metal or wood. Polystyrene insulated panels are also easier for contractors to install.

Compressed Straw Panels

Compressed straw insulated panels are considered Eco-friendly because these are made by using recycled and renewable waste from straw that you find on farms. This type, however, does not generally have a high R-value when compared to other types of insulated panels.

Insulated Panel Structure Benefits

There are many benefits of choosing to use insulated panel structures when designing your structure.  First, these panels can be used for many things, such as exterior walls, interior walls, roofing, and flooring. If building a roof using insulated panels the roofing contractor will not have to use any type of roof truss. This enlarges the space that is under the roof.

Insulated panel structures are also much stronger when compared to wood framing and they are more energy efficient when compared to traditional framing. Insulated panel structures can also be used with other types of building materials, such as glass, wood, tiles, slate, stone, block, and brick.

Structured insulated panels can also be used in both residential and commercial applications during construction. It also takes a builder less time to build a structure if they use insulated panel structures.

Talk with a company that sells insulated panel structures and they can give you much more information about them, as well as tell you of many more benefits they can offer.
