After investing so much money into the purchase of welding machines, you are going to want to make sure that you are well aware of how to maintain them. This way, you will not have to worry about them breaking down so quickly or no longer performing up to your professional standards. If you are in need of some assistance in this area, you will want to take a few moments to check out the following helpful advice:
Blow Out The Inside Of The Machine
For welding machines that are only occasionally used, you will want to blow them out about every six months or so. However, if you have welding machines that are used almost daily, this is something that you might want to do once a week. Use an air compressor to blow air through the front of the welding machines, while leaving the covers in place. If this is not done often enough, the build up of dust and debris can cause the welding machines to overheat. They may also experience electrical failure, arcs that are erratic, and the general premature wearing of the machine.
Inspect The Drive Rolls And Clean As Needed
During your normal cleaning of the welding machines, you will want to take the time to inspect the drive rolls. If they are dirty, you will need to remove them, and then clean them with clean water and a wire brush. Should you find that the drive rolls are damaged or deformed, you will need to immediately replace them. While you are doing this, you will want to inspect the outlet and inlet guides and clean and replace those as needed as well. If the guides that need to be replaced have an excessive amount of wear on them, you may need to have the wire spool assembly realigned.
Clean Up The Engine
The engines on the welding machines are vital and you will need to make sure that the oil is clean and changed out as needed. You will also need to replace the oil filter, the fuel filter, and the air cleaner as often as suggested in the owners manual that came with your welding machine. The intervals in which this will need to be done will depend on whether you have a diesel or gas engine within your welding machine.
With those maintenance tips and any others you might find in the owners manual, you will be able to keep your welding machines in the best possible shape. Click here for more info on maintaining your welding equipment.Share
